Enjoy a ride behind Hawk, Owl, Fox, Badger, Katie or Jay, our six friendly little engines here at the Kirklees Light Railway - the home of Yorkshire’s Great Little Steam Trains!
Climb aboard for a scenic journey along our 15-inch narrow-gauge railway, through the beautiful South Pennine foothills to our Shelley terminus where you can enjoy panoramic views.
Visit Shelley Station Tea Room for a selection of light refreshments. Children can play on the outdoor play area and sand pit and, on a summers day, passengers can enjoy our large picnic area.
Upon returning to Clayton West, passengers can browse the extensive gift shop, stop for a bite to eat in the Buffer Stop Cafe and the children can let off some steam in the outdoor play area. A quick whizz around the duck pond on the miniature railway is also on the cards!
We welcome well-behaved pooches on our trains (free-of-charge), in our station buildings, café, gift shop and in the grounds. All we ask is that you let the Ticket Office know you have a dog with you and they'll get a Rover's Day Rover ticket!
