Situated in the Northumberland National Park in the pretty village of Harbottle, this is a great base from which to explore the surrounding area including The Cheviot Hills, National Trust’s Cragside, Kielder Water, the Heritage Coast and many castles. The small village pub, castle ruins and river are a short walk from the cottage, and there are another two pubs in Alwinton, 1½ miles away, which serve food. Cycle routes ‘Pennine Cycleway’ and ‘Sandstone Way’ pass the front door, and the Drake Stone is visible from the garden, which is an enjoyable walk up from its forest base to a hidden lake. The traditional town of Rothbury is 15 minutes away with a wide range of amenities, and Alnwick, famous for its castle and gardens is 30 minutes away.
